COMMUNITY
Unfortunately, the pandemic has limited our community involement in many ways. Our initial plan was to hold Winter and Spring Symposiums where our students demonstrated their understanding and learning to parents and community members.
Instead, we held "in-house" CS Events. Our first district wide CS Event was held in December of 2020. We transformed our gymnasium into Whoville and had the theme "How the Grinch Stole Computer Science at PAC". At this time, we couldn't allow anyone "not on staff" to attend the event. Therefore, we took numerous pictures that we shared with our local newspaper to publish as we showcased the event and what our students were doing and learning to our community.

In December of 2021, we ran another school wide CS Event entitled "The Greatest CS Show at PAC". Again, the pandemic played a role where we couldn't "open" our event to anyone who wanted to come. We publized our event through our parent communication tool - ClassTag - and had parents sign up for time slots that they could come in our building. Our administration just didn't want a flood of people in our building at this time. We also invited our school board members, administration, and community businesses to stop in and see the skills we were fostering in our students. The local newspaper also came and captured the event with pictures and interviewed students for a write-up in our local paper.

​We are hoping that 2022-23 will be much better in regards to what we can do in terms of showcasing our CS to our community. We want to invite business leaders/partners into our buildings as guest speakers as well as take our students to their business locations to see first hand how a lot of the CS skills and concepts they are learning apply to the world of work.
