Our kindergarten students were so excited to be introduced to the Bee Bots.

Bee Bots are programmable floor robots with easy control buttons for young learners and have an abundance of educational value.

I checked out these Bee Bots from Prairie Lakes AEA.

Bee Bots......

  • Introduce sequencing and control

  • Develop positional and directional language

  • Teach sequencing and repetition

  • Allow students to design, write and debug programs

  • Teach problem-solving and critical thinking

  • Support development of fine motor skills

  • Reinforce communication, collaboration, and team work

Our kindergarten students used the Bee Bots in their math class. Students were given a numeracy problem. For example: 2 + 7 = ?? or 9 - 5 = ??.

Students had to first figure out the the answer to the problem then program the Bee Bot to land on the correct answer on the numeracy floor grid we created.

This was a great introductory activity for the students. So many skills and strategies were involved in getting the Bee Bots to the desired spot on the floor grid.

I'm super excited to see how the classroom teachers will use this open-ended resource to enhance Literacy, Science, and Numeracy throughout their curricular units next year!

Thanks for letting your classrooms "buzz" Mrs. Stumpf and Mrs. Ford!
