2nd Grade Mystery Number Skype

What a great way to start off your morning PAC 2nd Graders in Mrs. Wiltgen's class!

Students quickly shuffled into their seats this morning and where excited and ready to begin the Mystery Number Skype Activity. We even had one student on vacation who FaceTimed in to be part of the activity. So cool for him and his classmates.

What is a Mystery Number Skype activity you might ask? It is an activity where two or more classes come up with a mystery number. The parameters for the number are established through collaboration with the classroom teachers ahead of time and is dependent on where classes are in their math learning.

Each class is allowed to just ask yes or no questions back and forth during the activity.

Our students used 100 number charts to eliminate numbers as questions were answered by the guest class.

This was exciting to see! The students were engaged, used math strategies when answering and asking questions, and definitely had to be critical thinkers to figure out the guest classes number.

Be sure to take a look at the video to see bits and pieces of the event. Super Learning!

Let's do this again.... Possibly once a month..... What a great way to showcase students' learning and thinking as they progress in their math curriculum.

Thanks Mrs. Wiltgen for being so open and eager in providing students new ways of learning and collaborating!
