PACs MS/HS vocal instructor - Mrs. Andrea Christians - is doing amazing things with her Music Technology Class.
The technology department was excited to deliver Mrs. Christians four iPads this fall for use in her music curriculum. This was a great investment that will pay off ten-fold because ..........
Mrs. Christians is an outstanding technology leader and music teacher who goes above and beyond to find opportunities for her students to integrate technology into the classroom.
She has joined numerous Google communities to increase her professional learning network and takes time to scan through the sea of information to learn and bring new opportunities to her students.
She drives her parents and students to her updated website. Check it out! pacvocalmusic.weebly.com
Mrs. Christians has a twitter account ( @Andrea9598) - follow her - where she tweets about her students' learning and also shares her learning with her followers.
Mrs. Christians completely understands that students can and will be amazing if you just give them the freedom to do so.
I danced into the Music Technology class the other day to find students working on composing music using an acoustic sound system, a simple microphone, a fender starcaster, a sound modulator, and 3rd gen ipad technology to fabricate their productions.
Students are creating awesome clips of music and better yet -- they are excited to do so! This fall, students created music that was blasted at our home football games to get the football players pumped up during their pre-game ritual.
Since then, they have been working with our Publications and Promotions class to create music for the students in this class to use in their sports highlight videos which are showcased on the Publications and Promotions website - http://pacpromo.weebly.com/ - which is a definite site to frequent - which promotes athletics, academics, fine arts, and student life - and all content 100% generated by our students.
When you give students opportunities to collaborate while making it relevant, you get students excited about the learning!
I asked a few students to give me a personal quote about their experiences in the class.
"While being in the Music tech, Austin and I have been able to produce music and use them for school related videos or pre game jam, which shows what PAC students can really do." - Caleb B.
"Honestly, I didn't think I could have as much fun doing what I'm doing, and still learning and adapting to the technology we've been using. It's a great experience, and has also taught me a lot about music technology specifically hardware technology. I would recommend it for anyone who has the slightest interest in music production, or anyone who thinks they might have some sort of musical talent as well!" Austin R.
These students also sent me an MP4 file of their most recent work. I so wanted to embed it here for all to hear, but embedding into a blog post isn't an option with this blog editor - Grrr...
Super cool! Thanks for sharing guys!
