We're Out!

We're Out! - Our 5th grade classes have busted out of our school walls and have teamed up with an overseas classroom in a Global Collaboration Project we are calling A Photo A Day.

I know this is the start of something amazing!

Both classrooms will alternate on choosing a photo theme for the week. Our first go-around with the project will center around cultural themes. Our teachers chose The Environment for Week #1. Our students will take pictures that represent our environment, and our overseas friends will do the same.

Both schools have set up blog sites where students will post, write about their pictures, and comment on each other's sites.

Our students will use many different digital devices to capture their photos - iPads, iPods, digital cameras, laptops, cell phones etc. A class Flickr account has been set up where students will upload their pictures. Students will then decide what pictures they want to showcase on their blog entry during the week.

We have a Blog Zone set up in the classroom. Our goal is for each student to post one picture a week to the class blog.

Students are super excited for this project! Each student will curate the photos from our overseas friends and create a final multi-media project that showcases their learning.

Our high school Cultural History class will also collaborate on the project.

We our hoping to extend our collaboration from two countries to four after the first of the year.

Stay tuned! I'm excited to post again as the project continues to build!
